Artist Statement
My work investigates form, colour and scale using traditional ceramic building methods. I use forms to reinterpret space, subconscious mapping, and recollection, engaging in a cyclical dialogue between material and memory. By abstracting underlying frameworks, I emphasize the tension between solidity and uncertainty. Geometric shapes and lines emerge, suggesting space without direct representation and revealing how physical structures shape both mental and bodily navigation.
Lines function as controlled directions, dictating movement through material, medium, and physical space. Through iterative repetition, I build a language of signifiers that investigate horizontal and vertical patterns as universal markers of spatial perception.
